Medicines:

Zero tolerance exists regarding illegal substances and misuse of legal over-the-counter and prescription medicines.

Each employee has an obligation to inform his or her manager when under the influence of prescribed narcotics that may create unsafe working conditions or require restricted clearance access.

When traveling overseas, make yourself aware of and adhere to foreign regulations of prescribed medications.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol shall always be in moderation and never in a manner that would reflect poorly on yourself or the company when on company travel, with clients, or attending a company sponsored event.

Conviction:

Employees who are convicted under a criminal drug statute must notify the Spectrum CEO, COO or Ethics Officer within five (5) days of the conviction.

One of my coworkers frequently comes back from lunch slurring her words and smelling of liquor. She performs most of her work duties normally, but sometimes staggers when she walks and needs help with everyday tasks. She’s a nice person, and I don’t want to get her in trouble. What should I do?

A: You should raise your concerns with your supervisor or Ethics Officer. If your coworker is working under the influence of drugs or alcohol, she is endangering everyone around her and our customers. Our Company will not allow this kind of conduct.
